About

I am a self-taught, Bristol-based artist who uses oil paint to create emotive representations of streets and cities. I use a variety of tools to build depth and texture into my paintings, with the aim of bringing out the colour and the drama of city lights juxtaposed against dark shadows, while also attempting to maintain a natural balance and harmony.

My home of Bristol is the original inspiration for my art, but recently I have expanded into a more abstracted style - veering away from a true representation and letting the painting tell me what it needs.

Painting started as a hobby for me, and I have experimented with a wide range of mediums, styles and subjects, participating in a number of the local art trails around Bristol during this time. It has been the past three or four years during which I have focussed my energies on exploring the possibilities of depicting city life in oil paint.

I have participated in the following art trails:

North Bristol Art Trail - 2018 to 2021

BS9 Art Trail - 2022 to 2025

West Bristol Art Trail 2022 to 2025

South Bristol Arts Trail - 2023 to 2025
